A Winter Verse!
I felt the wind
brush a cool caress
across my cheek,
Like the intent-ridden
lover who passed
by hurriedly;
I caught the
slumberous Sun
plant a peck at the
back of my neck,
A quick touch of lips
just warm enough
to leave a sensation;
The floor felt cold
beneath my feet
sending up a chill,
Like the stolen embrace
in view of the world
would shoot a sudden thrill;
The nip in the morning air
pushed me into the arms
of hope that lay
by my side last night,
We woke up together
warm as toast in each other’s
canoodling comfort;
The birds in their
feather coats
began an early
evening chorus,
Just as the Sun
wished to withdraw
into an advancing dusk;
The smog hung low
making everything look
surreal and romantic,
The scene sought
a pair hand in hand
to walk into
the seductive sunset;
The squirrels hunched up
on cool branches outside,
Peering in to
catch a glimpse
of hurried kisses
that rouse up the mind;
I heard a gentle
knock on the door
the heart took
a double-dive
was it mon amour?
It was the crisp air
against the Walnut wood
uttering in soft tones
Winter is finally here;
The logs will
soon be lining up
to light our fire inside,
Sometimes the
best of cuddles
leave us cold
as we often realize;
The Sky will begin
to form an
inviting grey canvas,
Getting the colour palette
to paint a picture pretty;
We will romanticize
the commonplace things,
A fallen flower
a leaf of fig
tears frozen
along our cheeks;
We will friend
up the frost
we’ll hold and
hug the snow,
The fire we will
close upon
yet kiss and
make up with dew;
Soon it will be time
to snuggle for warmth
To kindle the heart on
the heat of the beats
racing and rushing
with passion and play,
Till the days start earlier
till nights become perfunctory
And the winter retreats;
The heart will
gush with romance
such are the charms
of Winter,
Then with days getting longer
we will lay it all to rest
and change our skins
prepping up for a
whole new weather!
